#EmpowerTheYouth
South Africa has one of the highest unemployment rates in the world exacerbated by the worldwide pandemic. More people are now out of work that at any other time in the history of our democracy. Here are some solutions to the unemployment in South Africa. The youth unemployment rate is currently 46,3%. This means that the majority of young people are out of work, this has very negative consequences as it affects the future of our country. Let’s look at some solutions that might help to solve this crisis
The government should introduce programs that will equip the youth with useful and practical skills. Much of the focus is preparing the youth for jobs but very little attention is given to preparing the youth to be self-sufficient and future employers. We have a lot of unemployed graduates in South Africa, the government should prioritize giving the youth skills that they can immediately apply upon certification. These should be skills that don’t require one to be an employee of a company before applying them.

With these skills, a lot of people will be able to try and find gigs and that will hopefully be enough to put food on the table. We have placed our focus on obtaining fancy sounding degrees that are firstly not in much demand and secondly; require us to be employed in order to apply our skills. Teach the youth how to farm, repair items and craft their own products.

A very insightful content. 🤝🏼
ReplyDeleteMy Suggestion is that the government should also help in stepping helping the NGOs in our community with funding, as some of them their only restriction is funding as they are running great programmes to help the unemployed youth with certain skills
